Book launch with Anna Caritj for LEDA AND THE SWAN

Please join us online for this book launch with Anna Caritj for her debut novel, LEDA AND THE SWAN! Bruce Holsinger, author of THE GIFTED SCHOOL, will join Anna in conversation.

Caritj tells the story of a female college student who goes missing during a debaucherous Halloween night on campus (the college is not named but those who know it will recognize the campus as UVA where the author herself attended), and the other young woman who becomes obsessed with discovering what happened to her.  It's a book that somehow manages to be many things all at once: a sexy, spellbinding campus novel, a propulsive thriller and a profound exploration of grief and self-discovery.

A “THOUGHTFUL EXPLORATION OF CONTEMPORARY SEXUAL POLITICS” (PUBLISHERS WEEKLY):
A college student not too long ago herself, Anna Caritj depicts how violence can shake a seemingly peaceful college community while also interrogating the insidious seeds that spawn it (often hidden in plain sight). Caritj really gets at the psychological complexities around college rape culture, reckoning with urgent and long overdue questions around sex, power and consent, at a time that our culture continues to sensationalize and fetishize the sexual trauma of young women, particularly on college campuses.

Anna Caritj holds a BA from the University of Virginia and an MFA in creative writing from Hollins University. She lives in Virginia with her husband. Leda and the Swan is her first novel.

Bruce Holsinger teaches at the University of Virginia and is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship.
