Authors Solveig Eggerz, Alice Stephens, & Leslie M. Rollins in conversation with Bethanne Patrick

Join local writers Solveig Eggerz (SIGGA OF REYKJAVIK), Alice Stephens (FAMOUS ADOPTED PEOPLE), and Leslie M. Rollins (GOOD-TIME GIRL) as they discuss their books, their writing, and their strong, fascinating, complex female characters with writer, author and journalist Bethanne Patrick (aka The Book Maven).

A native of Iceland, Solveig Eggerz spent her early childhood there. Sigga of Reykjavik is her second novel. Her first novel, Seal Woman, set in Iceland, Germany, and Poland, was published in 2008. She has a Ph.D. in medieval English, German, and Scandinavian comparative literature from Catholic University and currently teaches creative writing in the D.C. area.

Alice Stephens loves to read and write book reviews. Born in Korea, she has lived on four continents and traveled the world. She lives in Maryland with her family and their lovable mutt, Scooter. Her column, Alice in Wordland, is a regular feature on the Independent’s Book Blog. Her debut novel, Famous Adopted People, is published by Unnamed Press (October 2018).

Despite a useless Fine Arts degree, Leslie M. Rollins has spent much of her career in the world of Direct Marketing and Graphic Design. Her writing was done on the side with the help of wonderful writers’ groups and classes, in which she learned to hone her craft. She has completed two novels and is working on new story ideas. An avid reader, Rollins has also managed her own business, traveled, and put her big toe on the path to enlightenment via several Buddhist retreats. She has survived marriage and widowhood, and the loss of some lovely dogs. She currently lives in northern Virginia with two cats.

Bethanne Patrick has built her career on talking and writing about books. Whether she’s recommending a great book, interviewing a novelist or promoting reading online, Bethanne covers both the creative and digital side of the publishing industry. In 2009, she founded the popular #FridayReads hashtag under the Twitter handle @TheBookMaven. TShe is the author of three books: An Uncommon History of Common Things, An Uncommon History of Common Courtesy and The Books That Changed My Life: Reflections by 100 Authors, Actors, Musicians, and Other Remarkable People. Her work has appeared in the Washington Post, NPR, AARP The Magazine, the Daily Beast, TheAtlantic.com and O the Oprah Magazine.
