Join us on Thurs, Feb 23 at 7 pm to hear Sarah McCoy read from The Baker's Daughter.

"In 1945, Elsie Schmidt is a naive teenager, as eager for her first sip of champagne as she is for her first kiss. She and her family have been protected from the worst of the terror and desperation overtaking her country by a high-ranking Nazi who wishes to marry her. So when an escaped Jewish boy arrives on Elsie’s doorstep in the dead of night on Christmas Eve, Elsie understands that opening the door would put all she loves in danger."

"A beautiful, heart-breaking gem of a novel...with the past coming back to haunt the present, endearing heroines and a sunny, hopeful ending. You'll wolf it up in one delicious gulp.”--Tatiana de Rosnay, international bestselling author of Sarah's Key and A Secret Kept.

We close out February with two book groups discussions:

Next Kids Book Group - Monday Feb 27!
Join us from 4:30 - 5:30 for Kids Book Group, grades 4 and up.  At our February meeting, we'll discuss The Monster's Ring: A Magic Shop Book by Bruce Coville.

"It all starts when Russell Crannaker buys a "monster's ring" from weird old Mr. Elives. Russell is sure the ring is just a silly magic trick-but he follows the instructions anyway, and slips it on his finger. Then he whispers the magic chant, twists the ring once, and suddenly he's sprouting horns! Hair covers his face and hands. Russell has become... a monster!"
